開展課外閱讀活動，強化閱讀理解能力
在課外閱讀中，學生是主體，教師應把學習的主動權交還給學生。同時，教師還應在教學中指導學生掌握正確的閱讀方法和技巧，并督促、檢查學生的課外閱讀情況，及時作出反饋和評價。教師還應督促學生反省自己的不足，并及時調整閱讀學習策略，不斷提高閱讀的能力。我國是漢語言國家，在缺乏英語語言環境的情況下，加大學生的課外英語閱讀量，也是提高高中英語能力的一種方法。要提高學生的閱讀能力和自學能力只進行快速閱讀訓練是不夠的。如果以每周1000個詞來計算， 學生一個學期只能完成1－1.5 萬個詞的閱讀量，不足以使學生從中獲取到獨立閱讀英語文章的基本技巧。所以，除快速閱讀外，我還開展了課外閱讀活動，目的在于增加閱讀量。向學生提供較多而且題材較廣的短小精悍的閱讀材料，并要求學生相互交換各自的不同閱讀材料，要求每人每天課外閱讀600個詞的短文，這樣，既增加了閱讀量，又擴大了學生的知識面，更提高了學生的閱讀興趣。學生可以根據自己的實際情況閱讀難易適當且感興趣的文章、作品。因此，課外閱讀可以滿足不同層次的學生對英語閱讀的需求。通過一個多學期課內與課外相結合的課外閱讀訓練，學生的閱讀速度明顯加快了，由開始時的30-40詞/分鐘到現在普遍50-60詞/分鐘，有些甚至更快；閱讀能力也明顯提高了，體現在做閱讀理解題時，學生們的正答率比以前有了提高。
